New sheep riding in the van on the trip home.

This sheep had never been sheared.

Kenzie and Gladdis (after her first shearing).
Kenzie and Uncle Jared playing Mario Kart.

I got up at 6:30 to exercise. Jacob came on the couch at around 7:30. Soon he went to get the barn out of his closet and played with it on the counter. I woke Jared up around 8:15. Jacob was begging to wake up Kenzie. We woke her and Adam up around 8:30. They ate breakfast and then we headed into town for drinks and donuts. From there we headed over to Jeanne and Leonard’s house. The boys had fun playing in the barn as we visited. Around 10:30 we took a short trip over to their neighbors house. They are giving us the sheep. This sheep is very friendly. She ran right up to the gate and the lady put a lead rope around her. They have never sheared her in the year that they’ve had her. She is about 2 years old. I got in the back of the van and they loaded her in. She pooped several times on the trip home but thankfully no peeing in the van. The boys and Kenzie would reach back and pet her face. At home we introduced her to Maude and the goats. It was around noon when we came back inside to have lunch. After lunch the boys were excited for Daddy to put together the ride on Clifford from Jeanne and Leonard. Adam had fun playing with that. Kenzie and Jacob played hide and seek. Jared and I worked on cleaning and sharpening blades for the shearing clippers. Kenzie and I went outside to put Gladdis (our new sheep) in a stall. She ran right up to the gate and I lead her into a stall. After tucking Adam in for his nap we went outside. Kenzie and Jacob had fun playing in the barn, while Jared and I sheared the sheep. It took us about 1 ½ hours to shear her. She looks (and must feel) a lot better. There was so much wool on her. Kenzie had fun walking Gladdis around the barn after we had finished. We came back inside around 4pm. Adam woke up soon after that. Uncle Jared and Kenzie played some Mario Kart. Adam and I went outside to take care of the animals. It was raining and he looked so cute in his raincoat. He sure had fun running thru the puddles on the way back inside. Around 6:30 we headed into town to have dinner at Fazoli’s. Then we went to Salvation Army. On the way home I went into meijer for a couple things. When I got back in the van Jacob was excited to tell me about the really smashed cars at the auto shop. We took another drive by them. As we left Adam said, “More mashed cars.” We got home around 9pm.

wow I'm sure she feels alot better getting the wool off...hopefully she didn't get any wool pulled over her eyes ha ha ha ha Whats the difference between maude and this sheep?

The Suffolk sheep (Gladdis) is primarily breed for meat. Whereas Cotswold sheep (Maude) is dual-use breed for meat and wool. Maude has long, coarse wool that hangs in ringlets. Her breed is now relatively rare.

I would agree with Vikki. What a funny picture. Who would expect a sheep to be sitting between two kids in a van. Send that picture to the paper. So...what's happening to the wool? Mom had blankets made with wool. Is that a possibility. Wool blankets are soooo warm. Before and after pictures should be framed. What fun to have a tame sheep. Maybe she'll teach Maude to change her ways. Isn't it nice the weather is moderating. We're off to church to cook breakfast for Morehouse Glee Club. Time change...Uck. we got up at 4:30.

So, Adam looked cute in his raincoat splashing in the puddles? Why is there no picture to PROVE IT???

Congratulations on getting the new ride-on Clifford -- it appears that the boys enjoyed the box it came in!

Hailey and Max laughed when I showed them that picture too. They thought that was quite funny.

I can't understand this - A sheep in the Van pooping but no cat in the house sleeping on the bed and keeping mice, bugs etc. out of the house. We use a litter box and really like temperature controlled envoirnments.
