Jacob's 3 year birthday

Jacob woke up shortly after 8am. He cuddled on my lap as Daddy and I sang Happy Birthday to him. Then I told him Kenzie was here and he ran out excitedly to see her. She was still sleeping on the couch. Jacob was excited to see his boat cake on the table this morning. We had waffles for breakfast. While he was finishing his breakfast I asked him if he wanted to go outside with Kenzie and see the chickens. He looked at me and said, “no, I just wanna open me presents”. Jacob had fun opening his presents. First he opened a book and then he opened a matchbox semi truck and a yellow matchbox car. He wanted to go up to the counter and play with his semi truck and car right away. Adam woke up so I took care of him while Jacob played for a little while. Adam liked watching Jacob open the rest of his present. Jacob got a carcase, fishing puzzle, and some foam blocks and foam animals. Daddy tried to see how high he could stack the blocks but both boys knocked them down. Daddy, Kenzie, and Jacob went outside to see the chickens and Adam ate his breakfast. Shortly after 10am we left for drinks in town. Jacob got a choc milk. The boys love having Kenzie in the car with them. We also went to Salvation Army. Everything was half off today. We got two Fisher price Little People computer games. Kenzie bought Jacob a veggie tales Bible cover. We got home around 11:30. Made pizza for lunch. Had birthday cupcakes after lunch. Right after lunch I lay Adam down for an early nap. Jacob took a short rest. After I installed the games on the computer he came and tried them out. He loved them. Adam slept until 1:30. We left around 2pm to head over to a park near my parent’s house where we planned on celebrating Jacob’s birthday. The first park we went to was full so we went to another one nearby. The kids all had fun playing together. They liked sitting on the chairs that Aunt “Meme” had brought and also had fun with the sidewalk chalk Aunt “Bippi” gave them. We took them to play on the playground. Nana brought hoops and beanbags to play with. They tried to toss the beanbags into the hoops. It was warm (low 80’s) and windy outside today. Around 4pm we lit the cake candles and sang Happy Birthday to Jacob. He blew his candles out and then was ready for some cake. After he was done with his piece of cake he asked for a cupcake. He held up three fingers and told us how old he is today. He then opened his presents with Hailey helping him. He got a lot of really nice gifts. There was some clothes, pj’s, books, a camera, fishing pole, cash register, $25 x 2, Lightning McQueen tent, some bills and a bunch of change, a remote control dump truck, and a matchbox garbage truck and dump truck. When he opened the camera he said several times, “I got me own camera”. He tried it out and had to put the strap around his wrist just like I do. When he opened up the matchbox trucks he held them up and said, “I got a garbage truck and I got a dump truck”. Max took a nap in the stroller. We had brats, hot dogs, potato salad, chips, and watermelon for dinner. Later, my Aunt Tina, cousin Angel, and Angel’s two girls were able to come. They live in Kansas and we don’t get to see them very often so we were really glad they were able to come. They brought bubbles for the kids. They gave Jacob his present to open and he wanted to open it in the same spot we had opened the other gifts. He had a lot of fun playing with the remote control dump truck. I opened up his fishing pole and taught him how to use it. He learned how to cast it using the practice fish anchor. He was having lots of fun with it. A little boy came over and wanted to try it and Jacob shared with him. Nana pushed Adam in the stroller and he fell asleep. There was a hill at the park that the kids had fun running down. Uncle Bruce took the kids for a hike in the woods. Jacob had taken his matchbox dump truck and lost the truck in the woods. Its so small. We looked but couldn't find it. We had a really nice, fun visit with family. Around 8pm we packed thing up and said our goodbyes. Vikki, Rody, Aunt Tina, Angel, and the kids were going to the dog park. As we were leaving Jacob talked us into going there also. We got home around 9:30. Jacob had fallen asleep but Adam was awake. We left as soon as we got home to take the Geo Metro and leave it at the auto shop. I drove the van and Jared followed behind in the car. It started pouring rain outside. It was hard to see because the rain was so hard. The was a lot of lightening. By the time we got home it was only sprinkling. Jacob stayed asleep as we lay him in his bed.

It looks like a great birthday. Happy birthday, Jacob.

But I think your parents have miscounted -- surely you are not THREE already!! I know that you are a big boy, but isn't three too many? Where has all the time gone? I am not three years older since you were born -- am I? I thought you were born just a COUPLE of years ago.
