We were all up around 8am. After Clifford was over Jacob turned off the TV and asked me to read the Bible to him. It’s a cold morning (low 20's). Around 10:30 we headed into town. First we stopped at Speedway for a cappuccino. Then we went to the mall. We walked around Target. Then we ate a packed lunch at the food court in the mall. After the boys got down from the table they were really excited as we walked to the play area in the middle of the mall. Jacob ran around and around the play area, driving his car. He’d stop by me so I could fill up his car with gas or oil. Adam had fun climbing on the grapes. He’d climb up next to me and give me a hug. Then we walked down to Barnes and Noble. Adam excitedly said, “choo choo” over and over as we walked back to the children’s area. Jacob played on the train table for a little while but mostly liked finding books for me to read to him. Adam loved pushing trains around on the table. It was around 2pm when we got back home. We took care of the animals and collected eggs. All the water buckets were frozen so I plugged in the heaters. Before tucking Adam down for his nap, I sang the “shake your sillies out song”. He first shook his hands, but before we got to “clap your crazies” he was clapping, then before we got to the "yawn your sleepies out” he was covering his mouth. He sure giggles at the ending of that sound. (This evening when I sang that soung with him he just covers his mouth during the entire song and giggles until the last part when I act like I'm sleeping and then say, "and wiggle your waggles away" then he laughs.) Jacob and I had fun drawing on the chalkboard with sidewalk chalk. We then read the bible together on the couch. Both his and Adam’s bibles are his favorite books to read lately. We played with cars and blocks for a while and then he continued playing while he rested. Then we bundled up and went outside. The rooster is the only one without a heated bucket so I wanted to make sure he had water. We also checked the barn for eggs – found 4. Soon after we came back inside Adam was awake. We colored on the chalkboard until dinnertime. After dinner we played duck, duck, goose. Jacob started and “goosed” me. Instead of running in a circle he ran down the hallway. Then as I was saying, “duck, duck” Jacob was saying, “pick me, pick me”. I did pick him – and Adam. They both chased me. This next time around Jacob “goosed” Adam – Adam ran, but Jacob ran much faster. I had to catch Jacob and so Adam could touch him. Jacob sure thought that was funny. As Jacob and I were talking about this game he said, “I learned that at Sunday School”. Jacob then wanted to play “tag your it”. Jacob was excited when Daddy called. He ran to the speakerphone so he could talk to him. Often today, he’s asked, “where Daddy, I miss him” or “I want Daddy to come home”. I tell him he’s working far away and then assure him that he’ll be home to get chocolate milk and donuts on Saturday. He sure does miss his Daddy. When I told Adam to say, "Hi Daddy" he only grinned and said, "Hi Mommy". After talking to Daddy Jacob wanted to play “catch that mouse”. I played Daddy’s part by setting the “trap (his blankey)” and looking thru the “telescope (picture tube)” to find “that big mouse (Jacob)”. Sometimes I catch a bonus “little mouse (Adam)”. Then Jacob wanted me to be the mouse and he was the “finder”. It was cute to see him try to act just like Daddy does. After tucking Adam in bed I cuddled with Jacob in the rocking chair. We read books, sang lots of songs, talked about what we did today, and prayed. After tucking him in bed I sat by his bed and rubbed him face. When I got up to leave he asked me to stay and rub his face. He asked many questions about heaven, God, and angels. After a while he said, “I ready for you to leave”.

I hope you are recording these questions Jacob is asking. They will be a great way to keep track of how his thoughts grow and develop with the years. . .

Another great day. Making them go quickly will make the JB trip seem shorter. Wonder how the snow is progressing. It looked like you were getting some on our radar. Keep those outside pictures coming.
