Jacob's cement truck.

It was cold last night. We had our windows open and the heater mattress on. May sound goofy but we love the windows by our bed opened. Jacob woke up several times last night but each time he went right back to sleep. The boys and I were up by 9am. After breakfast we played with blocks. Adam liked to bring me pieces and have me tell him what the pictures on the block were. He’d sit down next to me like I was going to read him a book. Then he’d get up and find another piece. Jacob lined up the stools in the kitchen so we played train. He went to the cupboard and got up all bowl lids to use as steering wheels. Jacob drove around on his “cement”/dump truck. He’d say, “you see that hole right there (pointing to the bottom of the pale), that’s where the cement comes out”. Adam was riding his white car and it fell apart on him in three pieces. There is a bolt that needs to be replaced. Adam was quite surprised. He likes to bounce the car otherwise it stays together. I set it outside to be fixed and brought in the tractor. Jacob hooked a bag clip onto the stool and said, “you see my sixty dollar tow truck”. Then Jacob and I played doctor. He rapped my leg (with my scarf), gave me a shot of “an-bi-ah-ick”, and told me to rest and to not get it wet. When he came back to take it off and I let him know that I had kept it dry. He said, “Mommy, I’m so proud of you”. We got out the tunnel and pretended we were camping in our tent. Then Jacob said, “It stopped raining, we can get out now”. He built a fire out of blocks and we roasted marshmallows and made smores. I came out from the other room and heard Jacob say, “ohh the drama”. When I asked him why he had said that he said, “look when Adam takes my truck I say, ohh the drama”. We left around 1:30 and headed over to a nearby playground. The boys were excited. Adam clapped his hands as he waited for me to unbuckle him. First they had fun playing on the truck. Jacob and I climbed up on the top of it. Adam drove and then tried to balance on the board down below Jacob and I. Then we all sat on the boncey teeter-tooter thing. The boys played in the sandbox, though there wasn’t much sand in it. Then we climbed on the playground. They especially liked going over the bridge. Jacob liked climbing the rock wall and Adam liked going down the double slide with me next to him. Jacob climbed up in this little fort thing they have. The boys sure laughed when I tossed the ball on a pole around. They ran after the ball, trying to get it and laughing when it would hit them. Jacob noticed the little counter area under the playground stuff and exclaimed, “look they have a McDonalds, you wanna play with me”. He sold me grilled cheese and then some mac-n-cheese”. We sat under the shade tree to have drinks and snacks. Jacob looked at the two large white pine trees and said, “them are real-ly pretty”. Every time a car would drive by Jacob would say, “look, them my friends”. We got home around 3pm. Adam napped. Jacob rested while drawing on his chalkboard and looking at books. Jacob stood on the couch and watched me peel potatoes for dinner. After I got done peeling one he looked at it and said, “that’s a nakey tatoe (naked potatoe)”. Adam was still sleeping when dinnertime came around. He had already slept around 3 hrs, so we woke him up. This evening we went outside to sit on the deck. It was another beautiful, cool evening. I love how Adam watches Jacob and tries to do exactly what he is doing. Jacob asked for some hot chocolate so he came inside with me to hellp me make it. Jacob brought the stool out to sit the drinks on. We went back inside at 8:30. After the boys get their bath Jacob always likes to run out with just his hooded towel on his head. Tonight Adam, who has never liked the hood on his head, asked for me to put his towel on his head. Then both naked boys ran out to see Daddy. Adam looked at the towel and patted his head with both hands. After the boys were in their pj’s they ran around with the towels on their heads again.

What a perfect day. I love cool nights as well. Jacob certainly has lots to say and isn't Adam just the best. There is a mommy and the picture of you three proves that. That's very special.
