Day 8

Adam woke up at 1am. We waited to see if he'd put himself back to sleep. He didn't, so I got up to check his diaper and see if I could comfort him. He wasn't settling down so we brought him in our bed. He'd cry if we turned off the light. Because we didn't want to keep the other campers up with his crying we sat up and read to him. He'd go back and forth sitting by each of us and listened to us reading. I was a little worried about him because he was not acting himself at all. He was very restless and acting silly. As I held him he'd grab my head and pucker kiss me over and over (first time he's ever pucker kissed). I tucked him back in his playpen but he wouldn't settle down. He'd cry if I walked away. I stood there at the playpen for a while. He'd walk over and put his head under my hand, wanting me to rub his head (reminded me of a cat in "heat"). Just when Jared and I thought he would be going to sleep we'd hear "dow-dee" or "Bampa" or another of his favorite words. At 4pm we decided to put the kids in the van and take a trip up Brockway mountain. We've been wanting to get up there and see the stars. First we drove over to "pebble" beach and saw the stars there. There we saw a bright shooting star that left a trail. Jacob was super excited to take a trip up the mountain. He clapped his hands and said, "I'm so excited, going up Brockway mountain". It was chilly and breezy up on the mountain. We got out a bunch of blankets to lay on and cover up with. We lay there with the boys between us and watched the beautiful sky full of bright stars. Jacob kept saying he was so excited. We saw some satellites and some shooting stars. Jacob got good at spotting the satellites. Adam stayed awake just starring up at the sky but ended up falling asleep. We looked out at the water and saw some boats. Jacob pointed out the lighthouse light. We stayed outside for an hour. It was getting harder to see the stars as daylight came. We decided to sit in the van and wait to see the sunrise. Adam stayed asleep in his carseat. Jacob sat up by us. We got out some granola bars to eat while we waited. The sunrise came at 6:30 and it was beautiful. Jacob fell asleep on the drive back to camp. As we drove down the mountain a red tailed hawk flew out in front of our van. It flew right in front of our van for quite a while. It was 7am when we got back to our site. We let the boys sleep in their seats until 8am. They stayed asleep as we moved them to their stroller. We walked down to see the beginning of the Copperman triathlon. Jacob woke up when we got there but Adam slept until 9am. We took the boys to play at the playground. After lunch we went into town. We got our pops and drove around town. Stopped at Dennis's for a quick visit. When we got back to camp we all took a nap in the tent. Adam woke up aroun 3pm. Jacob slept until 4:30. Adam was quite fussy throughout the day. We cooked hot dogs and veggies over the fire for dinner. Jacob has so much fun playing with the firewood. Beds, couches, and parking lots are a few of the things he likes to make. After dinner we took a hike over to "pebble" beach. There we hiked throught the woods to the spot where we climb down to the black sand. Adam decided he didn't want to go in the same direction as us. When I picked him up to carry him he got very upset and threw himself forward. Now he didn't want up or down. In the last couple day he has clearly become aware of himself. The boys had fun playing in the sand. Jared threw the stick for Truman in the water. We got back to camp around 8:30. I took Adam for his bath, read to him, and tucked him in for the night. Jacob asked if he could play in the dirt for a little while before getting showered. Daddy was chopping up wood for the fire. He grabbed a piece and went to hit it when Jacob said, "Daddy, no hit my couch!". He sat by the fire with us. We made smores. As Jacob ate his smore he kept saying, "umm, dis good". We were in by by 10:30.

I love the one of Adam crawling in the sand. And Jared throwing something in the water.

I am glad to see that Grandpa was on the trip, too! Those hats are always something to see.
