Day 9

GREAT SAND BAY

Jacob posing with the orr boat behind him.

Adam woke up up around 6:30. We enjoyed reading books together. Jacob woke up at 8am. I was going to make pancakes but Jacob really wanted Grandma to make them. He took Daddy with him over there so he could ask her. She made pancakes for all of us. When Adam saw Jacob's plate full of pancakes he started begging to get up at the table and eat. It was 9am when we went for our morning walk. Jacob asked Grandma to come for a walk with us. At 10am we headed over to the Great Sand Bay. As we drove away Jacob asked, "Grandma and Grandpa coming with us?" After we told him they weren't he asked, "why?" Due to detours we either drive thru the "tunnels" or over Brockway mountain to get places. Daddy told Jacob that today we were giong to drive thru the "tunnels". Jacob said, "somedays we go thru the tunnels and somedays we go up Brockway mountain". We got to the beach at 10:45. We walked down the sand hill and over to the stream that goes into Lake Superior. The stream water was ice cold. Right away Daddy started working on redirecting the stream. The boys started off playing in the sand but soon they were running and playing in the stream too. They also liked running along the Lake Superior shore. Jacob climbed up the sandhill and was having fun sliding down it. I climbed up so we could slide together. When Adam saw us he begged to come up with us. As we slide down the hill, Adam said, "weee" over and over. We all took a walk under the bridge. The bridge has two sections that lead to the other side. One side has alot of sand in it and the stream goes thru the other side. We walked thru the side with the sand and it was a sideways hill of sand the whole way. Adam looked like he was having a difficult time walking but when I tried to help him he made it very clear that he wanted to do it by himself. The boys and I had fun playing with our echo's on the side with the stream. Now Daddy worked on redirecting the stream another way. The boys had fun playing in his stream. At 12:45 we had lunch on the beach. We headed back to camp around 1:30. We all got good naps in this afternoon. Then, I read my magazine and Jared played his sudoki game. Adam woke up around 5pm. Grandma came over for a visit. After she left Adam quickly grabbed my finger and followed after her, calling for her. Jacob didn't wake up until around 7pm. We went for a walk around camp. At 8pm we headed into town for some ice cream. Back at camp we got the boys washed and in their pjs. Then we took a walk around the campground. Adam fell asleep in the stroller and stayed asleep as I lay him in his playpen. I read to Jacob and then lay next to him as we talked about our day. After we pray he always asks for Daddy to lay by him for a little bit. We were in bed by 10:30.
