Day 2

Jacob came in between us on the air mattress at 8am. He and Daddy walked down to the bathrooms. On their way he told Daddy, “I like my camping site”. Soon Adam was awake and calling “Mommy, Mommy”. We grabbed some pop tarts and took a walk around the campground. Then we took a walk over to the playground. Grandma found us as we were on our way there. Jacob was pretending to drive his firetruck and asked Grandma to come sit by him. On our walk back to camp Jacob wanted Grandma to push his stroller. Back at camp we said hi to Grandpa. Grandma stayed to help him set up camp while we took a walk over to “Pebble” beach. The beach is mostly nice, smooth rocks but there is a couple areas with some fun, black sand. We sat down in the sand to play and relax until lunchtime. Adam liked to lay down in the sand and push his hands forward in it. Jacob liked finding handfuls of small rocks to bury in the sand. Jacob and Daddy both like to lay on their sides as they play. I heard a lot of truck sounds. Jacob pretended my crocs were boats. As we were eating lunch today Jacob fell off the picnic table and hit his ear. He cried as I comforted him. He stopped crying and said, “I want you to tell Grandma”. I told him he could go tell her and he walked over to their site to tell Grandma he had gotten hurt. We took a drive into town to visit Dennis and Leslie and see their pottery. On the drive back to camp Adam fell asleep. I moved him into his playpen and he took a nap. We relaxed in the shade. Jacob lay in the dirt and played with his tractors. I took Jacob down to the bathroom. As we walked back he noticed Daddy waiting for us on the road. He ran all the way back to Daddy where he was hugged and swung around. (This is something he looked forward to throughout the trip. As soon as we’d come out of the bathroom, he’d want to call Daddy. He’d run as soon as he saw him). Jacob took some small pieces of wood and made a “fire”. We pretended to roast marshmallows. He’d say, “oops, mine fell off, I gotta get nother one”. Adam woke up around 4pm. We went over to Grandma site and she blew bubbles for the boys. We went for a walk. Jacob loves when Grandma tipped him back in his stroller, pretending it was a dump truck. The boys and I walked out on the dock on Lake Fanny Hooe. Adam hung on tight to the hair behind my head. Back at camp Jacob went over to visit Grandma until dinnertime. He came over to get his chair. He folded it up and had me help him put it in the bag. Then he put the strap over his shoulder and headed back to Grandma’s. They were reading together when I went to get him for dinner. After dinner Jacob rode the tricycle while Adam and I walked. I tried to put the harness on Adam but he wanted nothing to do with that (however, throughout the trip he got better about this). We went for another walk before leaving for ice cream. Jacob cared more about playing on the “ice cream dump truck” than eating his ice cream. After some playtime on the truck, we headed back to camp. As we drove into the campground Jacob said, “Mommy, we gotta find Grandma and Grandpa at my tent”. Grandma and Grandpa took Jacob for a walk with them. I took Adam down for his bath. Daddy got his pj’s on, while I took Jacob down for his shower. When we got back, Jared had a nice fire and Grandma and Grandpa were over. I took Adam in the tent so we could read before bed. He sure gets excited about reading together. He hands me a book and hurries to sit on my lap as he wiggles with excitement. After Grandma and Grandpa left, I tucked Jacob in bed. Jared and I made smores before going to bed. Shortly after we were in bed Jacob woke up. He stood next to his air mattress but didn’t seem to be fully awake. As I asked him if he had to go “potty” I noticed his pants turn darker. Then he plopped down on his bed. I got the sleeping boy cleaned, changed and back into bed.

Good to see adults, too!

Jared looks as if he was counting shapes on the blanket. And Grandma looks as if she is reading to a bundled-up grandson.

Uncle Dee, Jared put a little spider on the table and they were watching it.

Aahhh! Thanks for telling me. There is great fascination with little moving creatures, isn't there?
