Watching Baby Einstein.
Playing with some new things.

Again I did my am exercises last night. We headed over to Mom’s house around 7:15. On the way we stopped for donuts and chocolate milk. Mel and her family were already there. Vikki and Kenzie got there soon after we did. Today was Mel’s 34th birthday so we all sang Happy Birthday to her. Jack was in his car seat for a little while and the kids rocked him in there. Mom had to make a quick trip to Grandpa’s house before we could leave. Jared and Dad stayed home with Jacob, Adam, Hailey, and Max, while we girls (and Jack) went to the garage sales. We headed there around 8:45. It was a warm and very windy day. Uncle Terry and Aunt Vikki met us there and joined us for sale shopping. While we were shopping Jacob called to tell me he had hurt his knee. He sounds so much older on the phone now. A while later Jared called saying, “Don’t say anything, but you know them stove covers that your Mom used to have?” He mentioned that I should look for some and told me that he had burned one from Mom’s set. He’d turned the stove on while making lunch but didn’t realized, until too late, that he turned on the wrong burner. He said it set off the fire alarm. Around 1pm Aunt Vikki and Uncle Terry headed home. Soon after that it started pouring raining. We ran to a nearby garage sale. Jack laughed as the rain hit his face. It was so funny. He was such a good boy the entire time we shopped. The rain didn’t last long and we did some shopping at that sale until it passed. After a few more sales we went back to the van and ate a packed lunch. Mom had made chicken salad sandwiches for us and she also brought drinks and pringles. After eating we drove to a different area for more shopping. Kenzie surprised Mel with a snickers bar for her birthday. Around 2:30 we headed back to Mom’s house. We sure had a fun time and found some really nice things. When we got to Mom’s, Adam and Max were asleep. Jacob and Hailey were watching Bob the Builder. We had fun sorting thru the things we’d bought today. Jacob and Hailey had fun playing with the few toys that I’d gotten. Kenzie tried on some of her new outfits. Adam was cuddly when he woke up from his nap. Mel and her family headed home around 4:30. Jacob and Adam had fun playing with Nana’s new cars. They enjoyed watching a Baby Einstein video until dinner was ready. We got home around 8pm. The boys had a little time to play their new things. They were tucked in bed by 9pm.

The stoves here in Dallas have indicator lights on the stove. I keep off the stove when the red light is on. It is hot!!! I sniff before stepping. At least you found the smoke alarms work.

Stove burner covers... not the greatest invention and no new one's have been found yet. I was quite busy with trying to feed 4 children...I'm sure it's the first time it's ever been done. I simply took the burner cover off the front burner, turn on the stove and went to doing other things while the water heated. I then noticed a distinct odor of something on the burner being burnt off. I turned to look and didn't notice anything and then I looked at the back burner cover which had smoke rolling out from underneith. NOt to mention the now chard black top. I quickly donned the proper PPE for handling hot items (at least I think I did as visions of the fire department and irate mother in laws filled my head) and threw the now chard burner cover in the brand new sink. I then turned on the proper ventilation to remove the smoke...and verified that the smoke detectors were in good working order. The pristine white stove top aroudn the burner was a nice burnt smoke color (the latest rage in range top colors I'm sure) it cleaned up quickly. I then made a sign to place on the burnt burner cover that said "DO NOT LOOK UNDER THIS PAPER PLATE" and called Kimmy. So now my mother in law has some extra ammo in ways to pick on her son in law.... I just hope she looks behind her when she's backing out of the garage.
