Jacob's pumpkins.

Jacob watching the tractor as it waits for the semi truck to come back.

Blowing it over.
Watching for Kenzie and Daddy to come home.

Adam woke up around 7am. I checked on him and his clothes were wet. He was also a very stinky boy. After cleaning him up I tucked him back in bed. He lay quietly but I don’t think he every fell asleep. Jacob woke up at 8am. We cuddled on the couch and watched Curious George. Adam soon got down to play on the tricycle. He liked to ding the bell. Jacob asked me to read a Clifford book so we read that several times. I lay on my side on the couch and played cars with the boys. Jacob used the ties from hooded sweatshirt to fill up his car with gas and put air in the tires. After snack time Jacob helped me make a pumpkin decoration. I cut out some orange pumpkins and then cut out shapes for eyes, ears, and mouths. Jacob had fun choosing how to design each pumpkin as we glued on the pieces. He also requested some ears and eyebrows. Then we stapled the pumpkins to some string and hung it up. The farmers were still working on the sugar beets this morning. I noticed they were going up and down the field right next to our neighbor’s driveway and this time the huge semi truck was driving next to the beet harvester. By the time we got dressed and out there they were a few rows back and the semi truck was just leaving. The farmer in the tractor beeped his horn and waved at the boys. Jacob excitedly waved back. Soon the semi truck was back. First it stopped in the field by the road and emptied out the back of his truck. I would have never guess that this semi truck could lift up just like a dump truck. The back of this huge truck was straight up. It was really neat! We were so interested in watching them that we didn’t even notice our neighbor drive up her driveway which Jacob was standing in. Jacob moved out of her way and she waved at us as she drove past. We watched as the semi truck drove next to the tractor and they finished their row. After that row they were done. Temp was low 50's and sunny:) We collected 6 eggs from the coop and then went inside for a late lunch. Jacob built a “giant house” with so many of his toys under and around the counter. He made a spot for Adam and I. We sat in his house and talked on our “phones (microphones)”. Adam sang "keen up" in the microphone. Jacob got the pillows from the couches and made himself a bed. Jacob’s Kangaroo outfit arrived in the mail today. We went to the post office to pick it up. The mailman gave each of the boys a piece of candy. On the drive back I made up a little song about their costumes. Jacob laughed and wanted me to sing a song about Hailey, Max, and Jack’s costumes. Jacob was excited to try on his outfit when we got home. After laying Adam down for his nap Jacob and I read some books. We then sat at his table and played with his cars and foam blocks. Then I worked on a pile of laundry as he continued to play at the table. The kangaroo costume had a pouch and baby kangaroo, which I removed. Jared came home around 5pm. The boys took turns getting rides on the tricycle. We made chili for dinner. Jared left around 8pm to pick Kenzie up from Mom’s house. She asked if she could stay here and work on schoolwork with Uncle Jared. Tomorrow is the end of the first marking period at her school. She still had many red (missing assignments) on her calendar and she isn’t allowed to go Trick or Treating (which she’s know about for weeks) unless the red is gone. After Jared left, the boys and I went outside to take care of the animals. I carried hay to the horses and each of the boys grabbed a handful of hay also. Adam just had a little hay in his hand, which he handed to Nutmeg. Jacob threw some hay into Sammy but Nutmeg quickly chased him away. Jacob said, “she’s eating my hay!” As we told the horses goodnight Jacob said, “and don’t let the bed bugs bite”. Jacob was excited to find an egg in the hay and we found three more in another spot. The boys (and I) had fun playing with foam blocks in the tub tonight. Adam was tucked in bed and I was reading to Jacob when Jared got back with Kenzie. They worked on homework for about an hour.

Jacob tasting the flour.

Daddy's handprint.

Fun with Daddy.

Sparklers.

The boys woke up at 8am. We were heading to church by 8:45. Jacob made friends quickly with a new girl named Coral. After snacktime Jacob, Coral, and Mugumi (all 3yr olds) enjoyed playing together in the kids play house. They sat around the table and had fun pretending with the play foods. As Jacob left the house he said, "I Daddy, I gotta got to work". Coral was standing at the door and he said to her, "give me a kiss", they kissed right on the lips. We left around 11:30 and ate a packed lunch. Then we walked around Salvation army. We went to Tim Hortons for coffee and donuts. After there we went to the grain elevator for chicken food. We then stopped at meijer for groceries. When we got home Jacob helped me carry groceries into the house. As we walked to the coop to collect eggs Adam turned and started to walk down the driveway. Jacob guided him back into the direction of the coop as he softly said, "you can't got that way, Daddy might drive up there, we gotta collect the eggs, come on this way Adam". As Jacob collected the egg he said, "I'm gonna leave this egg for Adam". Jacob showed Adam the egg and put it into Adam's basket. Adam now likes to swing his basket all over so the egg didn't stay in there long. Adam napped from 3:30-5:30. Jacob played with his cars at the little table. Jared came home around 5pm. We made pasty's for dinner. And we also made lots of extra pasty's to store in the freezer. The boys enjoyed playing in the flour. After dinner Jacob and Adam had fun with Daddy. They played chase and hide-and-go-seek. Jacob sure is quiet as he hides now. As Adam ran to hide he'd say, "ide (hide)". We went outside to take care of the animals. The farmers are still working on harvesting the sugar beets. Jacob saw the trucks they were loading them into and said, "thats the biggest truck I ever saw!" We found a few boxes of sparklers and did them tonight. The boys sure enjoyed them. I helped Adam hold one, but he wanted to do it himself. I gave him one to hold but then he wanted to put it right up by his eyes. It was 8:45 when we came back inside. The boys helped pick up toys and then we got them into their pj's. Adam has learned to say "moo" when asked what sound a cow makes.

Adam kissing the draw lips.

Who's going to push Daddy?

Both boys woke up around 7am. I changed Adam and then lay him back down in his crib. Jacob lay in my bed until 8am. They both lay quietly but neither one fell back to sleep. Jacob was lying on the floor in the hallway this morning when Adam bent over to give him a big kiss on his cheek. As I was dressing Adam on his changing table this morning he kept feeling the cold window and saying, “burr!” We watched Clifford. I got out the Little People toys to play with. Jacob and I played with some semi trucks and cars while kneeling next to the couch. Adam played with the Little People car wash. After their morning snack I got out the chalkboard for Jacob to draw on. I gave him a handful of new pieces of chalk and then I went to find the eraser, which was in his closet. When I came back he had broken all the chalk into tiny pieces. I put new batteries in their tape player with microphones and they enjoyed playing with that. Then Adam and I drew on the chalkboard. He likes when I draw thing for him to erase. I drew fish, shapes, and then some lips. Right away he kissed the chalkboard right on the drawn lips. Too funny! Jacob sat on the other side of the easel and drew with the dry erase markers. Adam also wanted a turn with the markers. He sure loves to erase the boards. After lunch we went outside. It was mid 30 degrees. We let the chickens out and collected eggs. Then we walked over to visit the horses. The boys loved petting Nutmeg who was standing at the gate. They fed her some grass and gave her pets and kisses. We had fun trying to catch a chicken. I caught Betty and Jacob held her. Adam continued to try and catch another chicken. We took a walk thru the woods. Came back inside around 1:45. The boys had a snack and we sat on the couch to read. I tucked Adam in bed shortly after 2pm. Jacob and I cuddled on the couch and read a book. Then we sang some songs together. He was very tired so I had him lay down to rest. He fell asleep around 3pm. Adam woke up around 4:30. Jacob was up shortly after that. Jared got home around 5:30. He had to drop off some things at the library and picked me up a coffee on the way home. As he pulled in the driveway, the boys and I ran to hid behind the rocking chair. We covered ourselves with a blanket. Daddy sat down in the rocking chair and said he needed a blanket to cover up with. Then he pulled the blanket off of us. The boys sure giggled. They wanted to do that several more times. After dinner we went outside to take care of the animals. Jacob, Adam and I drove around with our pretend cars. I had car problems and Jacob came to fix my car. He asked me to pop my hood. I lifted my hands and he checked my engine. He said, “its not broke, you just need a little oil”. He added some oil and then pushed my hands down to shut the hood. Jacob and Adam both wanted to help carry hay to the horses. We found a few eggs in the barn. It was getting dark outside. Our neighbors were just starting to harvest their sugar beat field. Jacob was fascinated as he watch them working. The tractors had on their bright lights. We decided to take a walk to the back of our property so we could get a closer look. Daddy pulled the boys in their wagon thru the paddock. Jacob was really excited as we got closer and closer to the big tractors. We watched from our fence for a while. Jacob pointed out the semi trucks and tractor as he talked excitedly about them. Then we walked down our neighbor’s driveway and watched as the tractor and beet harvester coming towards us. We were right near the edge of the field. Jacob said, “that is one of my favorite tractors I ever saw!” It was really interesting to watch. Daddy picked a beet from the field and brought it over to show the boys. As we walked into the house Jacob suggested hot chocolate. As I unloaded the dishwasher and the boys found some spoons and pans to play with. Adam made some cute sounds and he spoon "things" from the pan to a bowl. Jacob put a bunch of cars in his pan and said he was making “car cake”. He handed me a car and said, “Mommy, you want some car cake?” Then he picked up his garbage truck and said, “Daddy, you want some garbage cake?” The boys took turns getting rides on the tricycle with Daddy pushing them. The first time we told Adam, “its Jacob’s turn” Adam gripped the handles tight while shaking his head no. By the second time around he’d get off the tricycle and then excitedly waited his turn. Once when it was time for Jacob to get off Adam ran excitedly to the tricycle saying, “Me!”
