Jacob didn't want to play "getting married".
This morning Jacob came down to our bedroom around 5:30, needing to use the potty. I took him potty and then he wanted to run in and tell Daddy “Happy Fathers Day”. He climbed in our bed and I thought he’d fall back to sleep but he stayed awake. We didn’t get out of bed until shortly after 7am. This morning I finished packing things for the day. Adam woke up around 8am and Jacob was excited because that meant he could give Daddy his Fathers Day gift. The boys loved watching Daddy open his gifts. Daddy tried on his new jeans and sunglasses. Then Jacob tried on the sunglasses. On the way to my parent’s church we stopped for drinks at the gas station. Jacob was excited to see his cousins at church. When Jacob saw Vikki, Rody, and Kenzie he asked to sit with them. I took Jacob back to his class and he threw a fit about staying in there. He tried to run out of the door and cried, “I want Bippi”. At church last weekend we picked him up in tears but that was the first time he has ever cried during Sunday school. As I left I assured Jacob that I’d be back to pick him up after the service. I decided to keep Adam with me because last weekend he was extra “clingy” after church and I didn’t want him to be that way at the parade today. The ladies in Jacob class were very nice. They said he did fine in there after I left and he was happy playing when we picked him up. We left church a little early and changed our clothes. Then we headed over to the parade. Aunt Debbie had seats saved for us. Vikki, Rody, and Kenzie arrived at the same time we did. Mom, Dad, Mel, Bruce, Hailey and Max got there soon after. The parade started at 1pm. It was a beautiful, breezy day. The temp was in the mid 80’s. We have been coming to this parade every year since I can remember. Jacob waved at just about everything that went by. He especially liked the firetruck, semi trucks, and tractors. He also liked the candy and necklaces that were handed out. Adam had a cute little dance to the music and loved watching all the different things passing by. We all had a lot of fun. When we left Jacob and Adam both were exhausted. In the car Jacob was talking to us but he was having a hard time keeping his eyes open. Both boys fell asleep on the way to Nana’s house. They stayed asleep as I lay them in bed. Jacob woke up around 5pm. Adam woke up soon after that. Jared, Bruce, Hailey, Max, and Kenzie were in the pool. Dad got to hear Adam say “Papa” several times. I got the boys in their trunks but when I put them in the pool neither one liked it. They both wanted me to hold them as they dried off. Jacob, Hailey, and Max played on the slide and in the sand. They guys played horseshoes. A little later, Mom, Aunt Jody, Mel, Adam and I went inside to watch the video from the lake the other day. We laughed because Mom had taped most of it with the lens cover on. Before we left for home Jacob helped Nana vaccuum her floor.

I had to laugh as I was looking at the pictures. Looks like the whole family likes to sit on a street curb somewhere with a whole bunch of other people. Not one picture except the last one with a hint of something...don't know what...going down the street. Parade ?...hard to prove it by the pictures. It's just a whole bunch of people liking to sit on a curb somewhere. The glasses are the best. Happy Father's Day JB.

I'm sure Jared will give your mom grief about leaving the lens cap on too!

I am continually surprised and impressed by the number of parades you people in Michigan have. Any excuse seems to work to have a parade.

The pictures are all great -- I am still chuckling every time I see Adam in that hat.
