He loves the hat.

"I spray Mama".

He did not want the hat on.

Daddy and Jacob watching football.

Driving his car.

After going out for donuts this morning we took a drive by our old house and then stopped at Salvation army and Goodwill. In the parking lot of Goodwill was parked a firetruck. Daddy took a big-eyed Jacob for a walk around the truck. He was very excited. A few firemen started walking towards the truck. One of the fireman asked Jacob if he wanted to sit in the truck. Jacob was too shy to do that but did shake his hand and said "hi". The fireman introduced himself and said we could bring the kids over to the fire dept. As they were leaving they flashed their lights for Jacob. Adam seemed to like looking at the big red truck and seeing the lights too. We went into Goodwill and found a few clothes for the boys. Then we headed over to the fire dept. They fireman were very kind and gave us a tour of the whole place. First we saw their living room area and their kitchen, then we went in the garage where they had a couple firetrucks parked. Jacob still didn't want to sit in the truck but loved looking at everything. We counted the trucks and then he said, "lets count doors too". He thought the tires, that were bigger than him, were really cool. He pointed and said, "I tee me" at his reflection in the rim. They showed us their workout area and their sleeping area. They gave Jacob and Adam some coloring books, stickers, and hats. The older fireman said he is retiring in 22 months and told us to bring the boys back before that. I think we had as much fun as the kids. Jacob and I wore the hat on the way home and Jacob handed out badges for all of us. When we got home it was time for lunch. Jared went outside to work on a project in his workshop and then left to buy some wood. While the boys were napping I cleaned the bathrooms. Adam woke up and we played and read books together. Once Jacob woke up I got the boys dressed to go outside. Jacob rode his tricycle out to the barn and loved to look behind him at his tire tracks. He ran to join Daddy in the workshop. Adam played with the stearing wheel on his stroller while I cleaned a couple stalls. When Jacob came out and saw that I was cleaning stalls he ran to get on the tractor so he could pretend he was taking it to dump the cart. Jacob likes to help me push the hay down. He always stops to look at the chickens roosting in the hay and calls them saying, "here chick chick chick chick".

What a terrific adventure for all of you -- this trip to the fire department! People are so kind and open to share their lives with children! Don't forget to take them back soon -- he may be ready to sit in the fire truck next time!

And just imagine what Adam is taking in by watching and interacting with his older brother! Isn't it fantastic to see this happen -- to see them exploring the world!

Your sons are lucky to have parents who do this with them -- on the spur of the moment -- let's go to the fire department. What else do we have to do? What else could be important? Cleaning bathrooms can always wait till naptime!
