Yesterday Adam's umbilical stump fell off. Its still a little oozy so were going to wait on the first bath til it dries up. Also when Jared came home from work yesterday he walked up to me with his hands behind his back saying, "Guess what I got you". He set a bag in front of me - I asked him if it was grapes. He said they were cherries. I had to tell him that I didn't like cherries - but I did try a few. He thought I loved cherries and liked to collect the pits in my mouth - but thats my Dad. My Dad can collect so many in his mouth - its crazy. We both laughed - I though it was cute of him to do anyway. He said, " you'd think I know after 4 years". Today I took Jacob and Adam outside so Jacob could play. He was playing in the sand and I noticed Truman looking at something behind me. I looked over to see Tiger (our cat) throwing around a chipmunk. I ran over and separated the two of them. Tiger ran to the barn and the chipmunk ran under my car. I took the kids inside and no sooner did we walk through the door when it started pouring rain outside. I vacuumed the house and gave Jacob a broom so he could help me clean. I got a phone call from the assistent pastor's wife from our church saying she was down the road a little ways and wanted to stop by. She has a daughter who is 6 1/2 months old and is adorable. She rolled around on our floor and giggled hard when tickeled. Jacob took Mary's hand and showed her his bedroom. Mary loved Adam's room. When Jared got home from work we went to walk around downtown and got some ice cream. Then we went out to dinner at AppleBees. Jared sat next to Jacob and I sat across from them with Adam. Jacob was so happy when we switched places, he could stop giving me huggs and kisses. He has been really needy since Adam was born. He wants to be held more - which I am glad to do. Although when it was time for bed tonight he ran to Daddy and wanted him to read his bedtime book. This evening I looked out the window to see Tiger playing with that chipmunk. Jared and I tried to catch the thing with a shoebox which was really hard to do. It kept running under both cars. Finally we caught it and Jared went to take it into our woods. It was jumping around it the box, hitting the top. When Jared opened the box up the chipmunk was dead. Must have had a heart attack I guess?

I enjoy seeing Kimmy again -- great photos all around.

I am sorry that you tried to save the chipmunk -- you took some great playful eating away from Tiger. The chipmunk is dead -- and Tiger is still hungry and wanting some fun. Cats have got to be cats! Isn't that why you named it Tiger?

I am glad that Jacob is getting plenty of hugs and lap time from both his parents. He most likely wants to plenty of reassurance that this newcomer is not going to steal anything precious away from him.

Save the chipmunk? You have got to be kidding. Chipmunks are created to be meat for something else. That's their only positive meaning for being. And you tried twice. Good to see pictures of all of you. Planted more flowers. That's my kind of summer fun. LR

Ferrel cats are the number one destroyers of wild life. They destroy precious song birds that I believe one might have a different opinion of "than meat for something else to eat"... Cats were never ment to be out in the wild, they are not a native wild animal in the US... same would be for starlings and other animals that were brought to the states. So you see it really was a poor chipmunk... Long live Chippies.

Jared, saver of chipmunks and all native creatures.
