After church today we went home and got things together to got to my parents house for a 4 of July get together. Jared and I made deviled eggs and an apple pie. The best thing about this get together is that my Grandma was able to make it. I am so happy that she was feeling well enough to join us on this fun occasion. We had lots of great food - there was hot dogs, potatoe salad, noodle salad, baked beans, and more. Jacob tried the baked beans but did not like them. He loved the hot dog though. After dinner, Kenzie, Jared, Jacob, Max, and Bruce went swimming. Jared said it was cold - Jacob stayed in for a little bit and then he held his hands out to me. He walked around the yard and on the porch and then went back in the pool for a short bit. Max liked the water if he was in the boat. But he thought the water was a little too cold to go in all the way. He wanted nothing to do with that. Grandma came and sat on the swing on the porch. Mom took Grandma and Grandpa home and Dad and Jared played ping pong. After a little while Kenzie came upstairs and said, "Aunt Kimmy, your going to be really sad, they've played like 20 game and Uncle Jared hasn't won any". Mom called from Grandma's because she had left her key to her car keys home. I drove them to her in the new car. Melissa and Max came with me. For Hailey and Jacob it was naptime. Mom, Me, Melissa, and Kenzie went to the store looking for a sweatshirt for Jacob in cause it gets cold tonight at the fireworks (I left his at home). Funny - they don't sell winter clothes in the summer. I decided to just bring one of Kenzie's old sweatshirts. We had some dinner and headed out to see the fireworks. Jacob fell asleep on the way there. We had to walk quite a ways to get to our spot. Mom, Dad, Vikki, Rody and Kenzie were already there. We got there a couple hours early to enjoy some time before they started. Brought bubbles for the kids but they liked the bubble sticks more the the bubbles. At first Jacob wanted to wander off, but he learned quickly that we wanted him to stay close. He sat on the blanket with Max playing and munching on snacks. When it was time for the fireworks to start I held Jacob and Kenzie sat on Uncle Jared's lap. When the first one went off Jacob jumped but loved it. Max loved it too - he was making sounds at them. Hailey sat with Nana. At home when she hears the bang of the fireworks she says, "thunder, where's the rain?" Jacob watched the fireworks and asked, "whats that" as he pointed towards the sky. He kept his head right next to mine and held my hair tight the whole show. The kids really had lots of fun and so did we. On the way back we had to cross a busy 3 lane one-way road and I was scared. Melissa and Bruce were waiting for us across the road. Jared said, "we are going to have to stop trafic". I thought, "No way I'm going to try and stop that busy trafic with Jacob". There was a small opening and Jared said quickly, "Lets go". I hesitated but went. We were about halfway across when I changed my mind, I wanted to turn back - the cars were coming to fast and I didn't think we were going to make it. But the cars were coming around the curve just as fast in the first lane. Jared pushed me forward and it was a good thing too. Melissa said she was so worried for us.
